Position 1
Lab Operation Manager

The Smart Agriculture Lab at the University of Florida invites applications for a Lab Operations Manager specialized in robotics prototype development. This key role involves overseeing and executing electrical work, troubleshooting, and maintaining lab inventory, along with managing basic machine shop operations crucial for developing and refining robotics prototypes. Additional responsibilities include training students, organizing field experiments, and handling logistics to support innovative agricultural technology projects.

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Degree or certification from a technical school; or two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in electricity, machining, or related technical fields.
Strong hands-on skills with electrical systems, advanced electronics, and troubleshooting equipment.
Proficiency in operating machine shop tools essential for creating and modifying robotics prototypes.
Demonstrated ability to train and supervise students and effectively organize field experiments.
Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
Prior experience in a laboratory setting, particularly in robotics or agricultural technology, is highly desirable.

Starting pay of $25 per hour.
This position is offered on a two-year contract basis with the potential for conversion to a permanent role with University of Florida state employee benefits, based on performance and project needs.
